FAQ

Canopy

You can use a BBQ or fire in your tent if you respect the necessary precautions as applied to all textiles. This means that you need to keep enough distance between the (heat) source and the side panels or the top of your tent.

Connecting the tents together is perfectly possible thanks to our raingutters. These waterproof connectors also prevent rain from seeping in. Available for every type of frame and every size.

There are two types of side panels.

On the one hand, there are the side panels from the Premium and Pro range. These side panels can be attached to the Premium or Pro top with a horizontal Velcro strap. Along the sides you can attach them to the frame with Velcro loops.

The Premium and Pro side panels are equipped with zippers on the sides to connect them easily and make the closure draft-free. The handy and easily washable mud flap at the bottom of the side panels is perfect when the tent is used outside.

On the other hand, there are the side panels from the Comfort range, which are attached to the top and sides of the frame with Velcro loops.

As the Comfort side panels are fully fixed to the frame, it is also possible to use them in combination with a Premium or Pro range top and frame. Conversely, it is not possible to combine a side panel from the  Premium or Pro range with a top from the Comfort range because the top of this range doesn’t have a horizontal Velcro strap.

Denier (abbreviated D) is the unit used to describe the weight and thickness of textiles.  Fabric with a higher denier is thicker, stronger and more durable than the same fabric with a lower denier. The Oxford Polyester 500D (used for the Premium and Pro range tops) is therefore stronger than the lighter alternative of 250D (used for the Comfort tops and all side panels).

At Canopy, we consciously choose to describe the weight and thickness of fabrics in deniers instead of grams. The reason therefore is that the total weight of the fabric can be strongly influenced by the treatments and coatings applied to the fabrics.  Textile manufacturers use different products to make their fabrics waterproof, rot and UV resistant, and fire retardant. Sometimes additives are added to the fabrics. These products make the fabric heavier without strengthening it. A heavier fabric does therefore not automatically mean that it is stronger.

The Comfort and Premium ranges are available with a steel or aluminium frame. Both frames consist of square profiles of 32 x 32 mm. Both steel and aluminium frames are corrosion resistant and can withstand wind speeds of up to 75 km/h.

Although steel is cheaper, aluminium is a much lighter material, which facilitates the transport of the tent.

The tents in the Comfort and Premium ranges are available in the following sizes:

  • Steel: 2×2, 2×3, 3×3, 3×4.5, 3×6
  • Aluminium: 3×3, 3×4.5, 3×6, 3×9

All Pro frames are made of high-quality aluminium. Thanks to the octagonal profile, the tents in the Pro range are extremely suitable for intensive and professional use. Moreover, they are light and rustproof. In this range we made a distinction between the 3M series and the 4M series. The difference between these two series is the height of the folding tent.

The tents in the Pro range are available in the following sizes:

  • 3M series: 3×3, 3×4,5, 3×6
  • 4M series: 4×4, 4×6, 4×8

Take a look at our Canopy comparison table. Here you will find a handy overview of the differences between our frames based on the material, top height, weight and packaging.

Our Canopy tents withstand wind speeds of up to 75 km/hour. In case of strong wind, we recommend you to always secure your tent with storm lines. For a stable fixation on a hard surface, you can opt for the special cast iron blocks.

As a company, we take pride in ensuring the highest quality of our products, both in terms of quality but also when it comes to safety. Both the Canopy and the Starshade tops and side panels are fire retardant and meet the international CPAI-84 fire standard.

Setup, care & maintenance

We provide various spare parts for each type of frame, which can be purchased separately. Tops, side panels and frames can also be purchased separately. In order to repair tears and holes in the top, self-adhesive Canopy fabric is available in different colors.

In addition to our range of spare parts which can be used to repair your tent, we offer you the possibility to repair your Canopy top and side panels in our sewing workshop. You can always contact us for more information about repairs.

Small tears can be repaired easily with our A4 format self-adhesive repair kit. This repair tape is available in all Canopy colours.

The tent can be easily and compactly stored thanks to the ingenious hinge system. Always make sure the tent is completely dry and clean before you store it in a non-humid environment. This is important to avoid mildew.

No. This could damage the protective coating and shorten the lifespan of the tent. The best way to clean your tent is with a garden hose, soft brush and PH neutral soap. After you have thoroughly rinsed the tent, let it dry and store it correctly.

The Starshade can be set up in no time (15 minutes) by two people. In the enclosed manual you can read how to set up your Starshade tent correctly.

Thanks to the handy hinge system of our frames, putting up the Canopy tents is quick and easy. Our instructions are included with the tent. If you want to secure your tent, we recommend our sturdy 15 kg cast iron blocks.

It is not recommended to leave your tent permanently outside. Thanks to Canopy’s convenient folding system, you can set up and pack the tent quickly and easily. This prevents damage, discolouration and wear, and allows you to enjoy your tent for longer.

The Canopy products are designed for temporary use. The three Canopy ranges are designed to meet the needs of different types of customers:

Additional anchoring is definitely needed to avoid damage in strong winds when using the Canopy outside.

Our tents can withstand wind speeds up to 75 km/h. In case of higher wind speeds, we recommend you to dismantle your tent. On a hard surface, our 15 kg cast iron base blocks are the best solution to firmly set up your tent. On a softer surface, additional stakes and storm lines can be used.

Setting up the canopy is very simple. It takes only 2…

  • … 2 people: any two people between 12 and 112 can set up the canopy tent, no previous tent experience required

  • … 2 steps: the setting up of the tent is done in 2 steps: firstly, you need to unfold (or stretch) the frame and the roof and fixating it using the bands provided. Step 2 is making small adjustments: fixating the roof and the frame itself and adjusting the tent legs.

And the best news: the tent comes with an easy to follow setup instruction. No tools or experience are required!

Printing & Customisation

Yes, this is possible. The Canopy tops and side panels are made of Oxford Polyester and are available in 12 colours. You can consult the Canopy colour references here. Please note that these colour references are only indicative. A slight deviation is always possible. Would you like to receive a colour sample of the fabric? Please contact canopy@canopy.be and we will provide you with more information and a colour sample.

Our graphic team can provide you with a design proposal. This design visualises your existing logo printed on the tent. If the design does not meet your expectations, corrections can be made.

Our graphic team will discuss the customisation of the tent with you beforehand so that you can clarify your expectations. The team is also always ready to advise you if necessary. In this way we try to avoid situations in which the final printed design does not meet your expectations. According to our revocation policy, we do not take back customised products.

In our printing workshop located in Ronse, two printing techniques are used.

For the first technique, flex transfer printing, a foil is printed, which is then cut out and attached to the top or side panel of your Canopy tent with a heat press. The result offers perfect coverage, has a long life span and does not affect the characteristics of the fabric.

The second technique is DYE sublimation. This involves injecting heat-sensitive ink into the fabric in gaseous form, which produces bright and rich colors, which are also water, UV and scratch resistant.

We do not recommend printing the tent after purchase – and certainly not after use – because the print quality will not be as good as it was originally. For exceptional cases, you can always contact us.

Yes, we require a vectorised graphic file in .eps, .ai or .pdf format for printing. We will check free of charge whether the file you have supplied meets the graphic requirements. Our graphic team is happy to help you If your file doesn’t meet the requirements. Contact us for more information.

Yes, both tops and side panels of the tents can be customised with your logo. Full printing of the tent and side panels is also possible. Please contact us for more information.
